Energy Optimization Off-Shore
Technological solutions to reduce fuel consumption on an existing oil and gas platform
Teknova is leading a project, partly sponsored by the Norwegian Research Council of Norway, through PETROMAKS program. An application for the project was submitted by Teknova in April 2010 and the project was approved and started from October 2010. The project duration is for 3 years, until end of 2013.
The project main objective is to propose technological solutions to reduce fuel consumption on an existing oil and gas platform in the range 15-20%. In order to achieve the project goal, Teknova initiated a project consortium involving several technological companies, R&D institutes, universities and an end user.
The details of the consortium are given below:
Project owner : Teknova
Project administration: Teknova and Agderforskning
R&D institutes:
· Teknova, Kristiansand
· IRIS, Stavanger
Technological companies:
· Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB, Finspång, Sweden
· Viking Development Group, Kristiansand
· Industrial Learning Systems, Pittsburgh, USA
· PARAT Halvorsen AS, Flekkefjord
Universities
· Technical university of Denmark, Lyngby, Denmark
· Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA
End user
· Draugen platform, Shell Technology Norway AS
The The project work includes three PhDs, two at DTU and one at CMU. The technical work of the project has five work packages:
· WP1: Advanced control system
· WP2: Energy flow optimization
· WP3: Efficient heat solutions
· WP4: Waste heat recovery systems
· WP5: Experiments
